Biophilia is the cool “nature word” describing the fact that being in nature often makes us feel peaceful, inspired, curious, and creative. During this after school club, students will experience biophilia first hand when they receive their own nature journal and art supply toolkit to begin exploring the nature of spring. Each session will include science activities and art instruction that helps students to focus and become present in order to locate, observe, and record features of nature in spring. This aim of this program is to cultivate a journaling adventure that could last a lifetime. Series topics:

 

Class 1: Intro to Journaling! Receive your emerald green ticket (a journal and pencil) and while learning tracking techniques begin your exploration and adventure of a lifetime

Class 2: This Class is for the Birds! (learn to spot and ID common birds of spring)

Class 3: All About Herps! (discover the reptiles and amphibians of spring)

Class 4: Everybuggy needs bugs! (discover the importance of insects in our environment)

Class 5: Marvelous Mammals! (learn to spot the tracks and traces local woodland mammals.

    Location: 20 East Bridge Street, Spring City, PA 19475 (right next to theTurkey Hill gas station).

    Parents may park in the lot between the Spring City Mill Studio and the Turkey Hill. Jolie  will meet class participants at the studio 100 front door located directly on Bridge Street at Spring City Mill Studios. 

    What to Bring:  A portion of each day will be spent making discoveries outside on the Schuylkill River Trail and nearby Riverfront Park in Royersford – even if it’s drizzling. Participants should come ready for adventure and art with outdoor clothes, a hat, H2O bottle, snack, and a pair of close-toed shoes.  

    To Register:  Please proceed to checkout to sign up and pay for camp. Upon receipt of payment, Jolie Chylack Studio will email a "Workshop Welcome Package" which includes pertinent information and an emergency contact info sheet that is required for each participant. On the first day of the workshop parents should  bring their child's completed emergency contact info sheet.
